Whatever it is that you are wishing for, you’re the only one who has the power to make it happen. If you’re wishing for a better job, you’re the only one who can make the time to update your resume, start sending them to your dream employers, and enhance your interview skills. If you’re wishing you can get fit for the summer, you’re the only one who can sign up for the gym, go out for a run, or stop eating out as often. Whatever it is that you are wishing for, YOU have the power to make it happen!
Here are a few of my Tips To Get Shxt Done!
1. Start the day right
I am a HUGE believer in the notion that your mornings are the most important part of your day and how you start it will set the tone for the rest of the day! There is a huge difference in my mood during the day when I get up and cross something big off my to do list or work out for 30 minutes versus when I wake up and decide to watch a t.v. show or lie in bed scrolling through social media.
2. Make a to-do list
Whenever you find yourself doing something unproductive like scrolling through social media or watching Netflix, whip out your to do list and pick an item to get done!
3. Focus first on what’s important
I sometimes find myself crossing off the less important and easier tasks on my to do list before I get to the more important and urgent items. We often disregard more important tasks but then justify it by completing other tasks that are not as important, could be done at a much later time etc… I organize my tasks in order of importance and avoid skipping tasks. Instead of making excuses as to why you have to skip a task, just do it! Sometimes, we have a legitimate reason as to why we have to put off a task for a later time but often times, we are simply making an excuse!
4. Don’t be afraid to say no
Don’t take on anything that you don’t have the time for. It’s so important to take care of your mind and body and it’s not fair to disregard your own well being because you want to be there for everyone else. Although your heart is in the right place, it’s not selfish to take care of yourself first.
5. Be motivated!
I am motivated when I read or listen to stories about women that inspire me- CEOs, small business owners, moms etc… I know Bala gets motivated by watching videos of individuals who are experts in their respective fields. Figure out what motivates you, what gives you that little push when you feel uninspired, what makes you want to jump out of bed and get things done- it might be attending networking sessions or workshops or watching/listening/reading about certain people or about certain topics.
